England Bowling Consultant Tim Southee Uncertain on The Ashes Participation

The bowler's last Test match for New Zealand was against the English side in the final month of 2024.

England's fast-bowling advisor Tim Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be at the forthcoming Ashes contest in Australia.

The former New Zealand pace bowler is only likely to be present for the first Test because of his participation in the International League T20 tournament, which begins on 2 December in the United Arab Emirates.

The 36-year-old, aged 36, assumed a role as the English team's fast bowling consultant in the summer after taking 391 scalps in 107 Tests for the Kiwis.

Commenting as England's team for the first of three T20 matches against New Zealand was named, he stated of his participation: "We are still evaluating that at the moment.

"We'll see what happens over the next little while."

England bowling legend Stuart Broad had declared the Australian side as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in no uncertainty over the anticipated challenge during the contest, which starts on 21 November.

"In my view there's at any time a poor Aussie side," Southee remarked.

"The team's attention is squarely on our own objectives. In my opinion the quality of [the English] team that's going out to Australia is excellent.

"It ought to be an thrilling encounter, that series. Not just [are|do] fans from both nations eagerly anticipate it, I believe the whole cricket world is."

But, prior to England head to Perth for the first Ashes match, they take on the Kiwis in Christchurch on Saturday.
