Three Named as Finalists for Young Sports Star Honour

England footballer Michelle Agyemang, darts prodigy Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been shortlisted for the 2025 Young Sports Star of the Year award.
The trio have been recognised for their exceptional achievements over the past 12 months.
Agyemang helped the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler secured the world title for the first time, and Perrin rose to fame with a unprecedented innings.
Littler claimed this honour in 2024 after his breakthrough year.
The shortlisted athletes were revealed during a live broadcast on a popular morning radio program.
The champion will be unveiled on the prestigious sports ceremony show on December 18th.
The show will be broadcast from 19:00 GMT.
Michelle Agyemang
Age: 19 Sport: Football
Only 90 days after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a crucial and game-changing role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.
She came off the bench to score vital last-gasp goals in both the knockout stage games.
These match-saving moments led to her being named Young Player of the Tournament.
Afterwards, she was awarded the prestigious Golden Girl honour for the finest emerging star on the continent.
She was also shortlisted for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.
Agyemang, who has been on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.
"Being on the shortlist for this honour is incredible," said Agyemang. "Thank you to God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."
Luke Littler
Age: 18 Sport: Darts
Littler kicked off the year in spectacular fashion as - while still 17 - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.
He secured a dominant victory over Michael van Gerwen in the final.
His follow-up triumph at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.
And he wasn't finished there - his triumph in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the first time.
At 18, he is the most youthful player to do so, breaking the previous record.
"To receive a nomination for the honour once more is a massive accolade," stated Littler. "My victory in 2024 was a proud moment for me and I've had another incredible 12 months. I want to continue raising the profile of darts."
Davina Perrin
Age: 19 Sport: Cricket
Perrin is one of English cricket's brightest emerging stars and surged to prominence with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.
Her magnificent 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.
It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a major league or full member T20 international.
Perrin finished second in the run-scoring charts and was named the young player of the year by the PCA.
"I'm incredibly grateful to be nominated for the Young Sports Personality of the Year award," expressed Perrin. "It's a very special feeling. I hope it motivates more girls to get into cricket."
