Vinted Shoppers Express Displeasure Over Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact all users about the change.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Changes
Previously, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Stories
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, located in Scotland, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: previously, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options after backlash from users.
